The bad thing about doing all the work of hosting is that i (and
all the other mather coaches) miss coaching our athletes. In meetings leading up to this meet i've told our team
they'll be on thier own coaching themselves. Judging from the kids performances they don't need any race day
coaching. (rewind to last year in charleston..coach devinney in top row of bleachers working on 2 hot dogs...oh
yeah). I'm really proud of this team and thier hard work this winter is now paying off big time. Here is
what i know of some performances. (thanks to mikey m for all the splits)
Boys meet highlights
Mather Boys Scored 172.5 points and won
the meet. This is the most point we've ever scored in the 8 years of hosting the invite and this 8th annual was
the largest of all time (911 total athletes) The meet champion rangers had many headline performances: * In
the 200m Steve(22.87) and OJ (23.58) went 2-4. Steve's sub 23 FAT time now starts sub 22 Fat conversations for May.
(WOW) *Jeremy webber sets a meet record 1:59.9 beating willard lewis' '07 time and he finished 9th at state! *In the 400m Webber doubles back from the 800 to run 50.77 ahead of teamate boo-boo casiano (52.34) going 2-3 overall. *The 4x800 crew of justen(2:11) alex(2:11) eddie (2:07) and boo-boo(2:06.....he went out in 56) win the event. *Eddie
T doubles back in the 1600m in a PR 4:49.17 beating some tough CPS runners for 2nd in the meet. *The 4x100m goes fat
sub 44 (43.92) seven weeks ahead of state. This crew has sub 43 potential and that might get them in the state medal
mix. *Roger gets his 2nd and 3rd golds of the day winning the 110HH(15.21) and 300IH(42.95). He set the meet record
in the highs. *In the 3200m ivan goes out in snail pace but runs progressive negative splits and wins the event. *Steve
and Darryl dominated the horizontal jumps. Steve (21'8 and 44'3) won both LJ and TJ, Darryl continues
impressive progression moving out to big PR's in both (20'0" and 42'10'). *Hubers crew dominated
the throws. Ethan won discus in 118'9" and Junior in Shot went 44'0".

Mather Girls Scored 85 points and finished 4th
(only 16 points back of the champion whitney young) the emerging lady rangers had many headline performances: *Sister
Sprinters Went 1-2 in the 100m (kellion 12.47 kristal 12.67) and 2-3 in the 200m (kellion 26.16 kristal 26.28). ZOOMING
fat times for early april. *Monica ran a terrific distance double 3200m (12:23.09) 1600m (5:30.33) finishing 3rd in each
race and running strong against a bevy of tough runners from young, maine east, and northside. *Chequia continues to
improve in hurdles running 17.57 in the 100mH finishing 2nd. *Our 4x100m realy girls ran 51.20 a strong early time good
for 2nd in the meet. * Makini Harrison PR's by a foot going 15'7" in Long Jump. *
