Young Invite Results

Analysis from Young Invite: ill link results when available.  (pics coming monday).  Jv girls raced well.  we sent 7 freshmen to the line and came away w/ a 3rd place team trophy vs f/s girls.  Our frosh girls class is a terrific crew.  On the varsity boys we finished 2nd to Gunn HS (california)  our 1-5 gap was a nice 1:06 off abes runner up finish but our 1-2 was a weak :45 which HAS to improve.   We're virtually identical to our '08 performances at this meet ('08 avg 16:59  '09 17:05) the difference is last year we had 4 seniors in that average and this year zero.  We're a young team with a huge upside.  Last year off virtually identical young invites we went to niles W and popped some real nice times.....we'll see this weekend what we're made of :)

Minooka Invite Results

Ananysis of the 2009 Minooka Invite:  The minooka meet moved courses back to their real xc course which was flooded last year.  Its a much more real version of xc with woods, rolls, lots of turns, and a variety of surfaces.  Id neither call it fast or slow but average.  Their alternate course last year at the school was very fast.  IN comparison to Peoria the mean differential from boys who ran 9-12 peoria w and 9-19 minooka was +0:21 (7 team 36 athlete sample) so its a slower course.   Our boys times w/ comparisons to minooka in last 2 seasons

 1) Abe 5:08 10:22 16:00

 1)Ivan 16:27  1) Ivan 16:04
 2) Bana 5:08 10:28 16:??

 2)Omar 16:16

 2) Omar 17:20
 3) Juan 5:14 10:45 16:24 3) Eddie 16:12 3) Gus 17:28
 4) Tarik 5:19 10:58 16:54 4) Abe 16:08 4) Justen 17:45
 5) Sergio 5:30 11:13 17:14  5) Bana 16:45 5) Eddie 17:47
 6) Abdel 5:36  11:25  17:28 6) Mike 16:58 6) Jorge 17:50

The boys have HUGE potential but this young group has to be consistant.  the 1-5 gap down to 1:14 off Abe's nice 3rd best time overall in the meet agains some legit xc programs bodes well.   Some nice additional efforts from victor 18:09  corey 18:44  Aidrous 19:00 Sukrins 19:01 (all young hard workers)

On the Girls side the whole team it seems moved into the 22's.  This group had tons of personal bests today.  Top Times  Marily 21:25  Shelly 22:01  Marija 22:10  Roxy 22:35  Ashley 22:56  Sandra 23:15  Cynthia 23:58   (4 of the 7 being freshmen).  I see the girls chopping off big chunks of time moving ahead and could see 5-7+ girls near 21 minutes in coming weeks. (and dont forget about aden :)           MINOOKA PICTURES COMING UP SOON

 Marily 6:21 13:32 20:53

The course was not as fast as its usual.  The temp for the 11/11:30 AAA races was a toasty 82degrees.  we ran about 10-15 sec off what we'd hoped.  Our girls team was without our #1 and possibly #3 a tough task in this competition.  Marily ran well and our pack just weren't agressive enough but will improve vastly in coming weeks. Our Boys team went out agressive and racing as instructed (fun to watch) with six guys under 5:20.  We faded (as expected) but won't in coming invites.  Our 1-4 differential was too large at 1:27.  We'll mix juan & sergio in and make our 1-5 under 60 sec. the boys are so young w/ top 7 makeup at 1sr 2jr 3so 1fr so we'll have ups and downs but we've 5 under 16min potential athleticism and we're loaded w/ gamers.
